Theatre Bon Soir: A sensual experience

Bon Soir: A sensual experience

Bon Soir is a combination of dance, comedy, acting, singing and acrobatics. Think Moulin Rouge meets Madame Zingara. It is quality entertainment that has been put on by the famous Follow Spot Productions, with director Vanessa Harris.

The piece is choreographed by Vanessa Harris and Ash Searle. Their creativity explodes before you as the dancers twirl their way around the stage in lavish costumes. The music is eerie, but sexual and full of rhythm. There is a male clown who presents himself as the host of the show. He suddenly bellows out a solo opera piece half way into the show. His voice is controlled and refined.

The dancers largely perform in pairs, with a male and female entangling their bodies together in each scene. There are, however, two scenes that the whole cast performs in. One is the Havana Nights themed scene, and the extravagant finale. The costumes, make-up and masks transport you into an adult fairy tale. It is the most sensual production I have seen at Fest.

Bon Soir shows daily at 6pm in the Kingswood Theatre.
